Over the years many enterprises worldwide have developed their mission critical business applications using CA Gen. Today organisations need to ensure that these important applications are robust enough to support their changing business needs, but find that they are perceived as being somewhat dated or not well integrated into the modern architecture vision.

To address this challenge, Jumar and Everware-CBDI have worked together to create SOA4GEN - a program which enables enterprises that have heavily invested in CA Gen to more readily adopt Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), the business driven architectural style that implements high levels of componentisation in order to deliver more agile, cost effective support to information and business processes.

  CA Gen modernisation initiatives have often failed to get off the ground because they are perceived to be high in complexity, risk and resource requirements. We recognise this and offer structured approaches to different types of modernisation, supported by software tools which automate large parts of the process. These tools have been developed specifically for CA Gen transition and are based on real-world experience gained on actual projects carried out around the world. Jumar's Project Phoenix tools support componentisation of CA Gen applications and their transitioning to new application styles and interfaces. Everware-CBDI's GenTran solution supports porting of CA Gen functionality to other non-Gen platforms. Support for application modernisation programs can range from strategy development and project planning, through software tooling and support, to total project outsource.
