Doug Michael has worked in IT since 1982 and with CA Gen and its former incarnations since 1987. Following a degree in Economics at Cambridge he worked with De Beers and then James Martin Associates where he was involved in developing tools and processes to support the Information Engineering methodology.

After a move to Texas Instruments, where he advised countless organisations around the world in the practical application of these tools, he spent a year in Seattle working on the Microsoft Repository joint development project. Doug is a specialist in application modernisation and replatforming, development methodologies, development tool integration and Windows development.

In 1995 Doug formed his own company, Rainier Software, to supply add-on tools and components for use with a variety of development tools, including the Gen products. Rainier products are still used by over 150 blue chip organisations in over 30 countries. In 2001 Doug began working closely with Jumar Solutions and in 2005 was appointed Technical Director, bringing the Rainier products into the Jumar family. The technology behind these products was the foundation for the development of Jumar’s ground breaking Project Phoenix suite of automated application modernisation tools.

Doug has responsibility for the continued development of all of Jumar’s software products and methods. Doug’s remit also includes ensuring that Jumar has the right technologies, skills and infrastructure to support its ambitious growth strategy. Most recently this has involved establishment of a fully functioning Agile Practice within Jumar.
